Established in 2003 by Michael Pierannunzi and Butch Zimmerman, this 24 hole course is built on an abandoned barge canal. Proposals for this canal reach as far back as 1567 until the ultimate dismemberment of the idea in 1991, providing visitors a glimpse into central Florida’s past.
In 2003 Pierannunzi and Zimmerman were prohibited to cut down any foliage or disturb any protected wildlife. This provides a unique experience as a course that was naturally plotted, seemingly begging for a disc golf course. Aside from mowing the grass, which took many years for the course members to convince the state to allow, and trimming hedges, every route you take on this course is nature made. Including trees that have fallen during hurricanes.
